Growing up in Cornwall, I was surrounded by distinctive ancient sites that abound there and much of the old beliefs of the Cornish. This and the then comparatively wild and intriguing character of the Cornish landscape informs and inspires me still. With this backdrop, my work incorporates a deeply felt, even perhaps mystical awareness of our connection to nature.

I engage with and deepen this connection through my love of detail and colour. Trees are of special interest, they engage me with their presence. My observations of their growth patterns tell the story of the effects of environment and weather.
